Wat Nawamintarachutis is a working Thai Theravada Buddhist temple in Raynham and encompasses 109,000 square feet. It is one of only a few Thai Buddhist temples in the United States with resident monks and is been constructed on old farm territory. It is expected to be completed by July 2013. The temple was named Wat Nawamin, or NMR Center for short, in honor of King Rama IX of Thailand who was born near Boston in 1927. The NMR Center will have a four story museum, a temple, and a large conference center.  A giant bronze Buddha weighing 15 tons, standing 20 to 25 feet high, will also adorn the center and stand as a symbol of friendship and peace.
